My husband and I decided to start Foothills with a knock from a wildlife officer at our front door in the middle of the night! He was carrying a bulging cat crate with a grossly abused raccoon. The officer informed us that she had no where to go because she was an adult raccoon and nobody wants those so, we took her in! We spent most of the night talking about this raccoon that later became Miss Khaki and we decided that every animal needs a place to go. This when we came up with the concept of a 24 hour all species wildlife rescue! Since this decision we've had the honor of forming a rehabbing co-op with our dedicated volunteers and we are now able to help wildlife across the entire upstate of South Carolina and part of Hendersonville North Carolina. Our little grass roots rescue has four primary goals :

1. We are dedicated to the treatment of injured and orphaned wildlife with the intent of returning the animals back to the wild where they belong for future generations.
2. The placement of unwanted or discarded exotic pets so, they ARE NOT released into wild to compete with our native wildlife.
3. To educate the public on the topics of conservation, habitat protection and animal husbandry while focusing on child education so, the next generation may be a protector of the environment.
4. WE PROMISE A HUMAN WILL  ALWAYS TALK TO YOU AND NOT A MACHINE!

We truly hope that Foothills is a gift to the Carolinas because, our whole crew works very hard to be there for the person in need 365 days a year while juggling full time jobs, families, and our patients.
